He wanted to change his life by moving from events to IT.
OUIcoding accompanied him in his professional reconversion for several weeks.
Who are you?
My name is Romain Mazzini, I am 28 years old and I grew up in the suburbs of Paris, in the Val-de-Marne.
- Un émoji qui annonce ton futur : 💪
Romain, tell us about your career path...
After a scientific baccalaureate, I followed a university course in management and sports events for which I obtained a master's degree in 2015. When I graduated, I wanted to make the link between my student life and my entry into the professional world. I wanted to do a volunteer mission in Civic Service within the French Football Federation. I therefore joined the F.F.F. as part of the organisation of Euro 2016 for almost a year.
Once this experience was concluded, I had the opportunity to become an event project manager at the Oxybol agency, where I worked for over three years. I was in charge of organising outdoor sports events (running in particular) as well as professional events (company seminars and team-building).
It has been an exciting and rewarding career in the events industry, but by 2020 I felt that I had done all I could do in the industry. I needed to learn new things.
Comment es-tu arrivé dans le monde du développement web et de la programmation ?
The digital world and more particularly web development had always attracted me, but I had never dared to look into it seriously. So I started to find out more about it, its technologies, its training, its opportunities, etc. It was then that I realised that it was a perfect match for my professional expectations, allowing me to grow personally.
Indeed, I have always had a taste for learning and novelty, two essential aspects of the profession. So I started to train online in an autonomous way and then joined a web & mobile web developer training course at the WebForce3 school in September 2020. There I reviewed some development basics and also discovered some frameworks that were still unknown to me.
- Un mot qui décrit ton niveau aujourd’hui : Inspecteur, car à chaque problème technique que je rencontre, c’est une véritable enquête que j’ai l’impression de mener.
How did you join the OUIcoding team?
At the end of the course, students have the opportunity to do a two-month internship in a company. Knowing Sofiane Boukhris, I had enjoyed our discussions about the company he had co-founded and of which he is the CTO. It was therefore natural for me to apply to OUIcoding, which accepted my application.
How did your arrival at OUIcoding go?
When I arrived, I discovered a friendly community of OUIcodeurs, which allowed me to integrate very quickly. I was immediately assigned to a website development project for one of the company's clients. I was thus able to reinforce my technical skills in Angular and at the same time, discover Laravel which I was able to learn with the help of the team developers.
The working methods at OUIcoding were very beneficial to me. I presented my progress on the project to the OUIcoders and received valuable advice from my colleagues. I never felt alone or, given the distance between us, experienced this as an obstacle to producing a finished project.
- Un chiffre sur toi : 4️⃣0️⃣, c’est le nombre de routes que j’ai paramétrés pour l’API de mon projet (les API m’étant totalement inconnues avant d’arriver).
In a few words, how would you define your career at OUIcoding?
If I had to sum up my adventure at OUIcoding, I would say without hesitation that it has been very beneficial. It has allowed me to evolve alongside professionals in the field in France and abroad, who are always available and attentive to my needs, to learn more about the digital world and, above all, to confirm my desire to change careers in web development.
